Yet another thread about farming...
Hi,
I'm a Bulgarian studying in Germany and a GW addict. The circumstances allow me to play as much as I feel like for a couple of months now and, of course, I do.
I love this game. In terms of interface, graphics, artwork, content, skill system, balance, etc. it's the best game I've ever played, so far I've invested about 500 hrs in it over 3 chars.
For the purpose of this (hopefully civil) discussion let me postulate one thing -to obtain many of the items available in the game through solely playing the campaign is impossible without farming, whether ArenaNet intended it or not; examples of such items include - FoW armor, 15k armor, "perfect" weapons.
By now you're probably wondering what I have to say about the subject. Well, only one thing, really - ArenaNet, please, make up your mind. If you're going to force us to farm (which you do by simply making it possible - the prices are made by farmers and their clients) then leave us do it. If not - render it completely impossible and change the prices accordingly. If farming is discouraged then the casual player must be able to afford everything after a reasonably long period of time.
I found myself forced to farm. I'm not the person to spend hundreds of hours trying to get a fissure armor, but I want my chars to have equipment that is functionally on-par with that of the veterans of the game, who have had months to farm.
I want to be able to present at least 3 (my number of choice) competitive RP chars and the possibility of a well equipped, in terms of skills, PvP char. I have an e/me, a w/mo and a r/n. Think of what just the skills would cost me.
Then I started noticing things happening in the game that should not happen, which I am convinced have the sole purpose of making farming less productive.
Then I saw the prices going, logically, up.
From my current point of view, you, ladies and gentlemen from ANet, instituted farming and you made the perfect sundering axe haft cost roughly 5 mind-numbing hours of my time and now you're making it cost 10.
This is a part of a part of the equipment of only one of my characters. 10 hours.
If this continues ... well, I'll be deeply disappointed
edit:
oops... the same thing has been said about 500 times already. my bad.
